Dinner was at 6:00pm at The Station. There was a decent crowd there for supper, but not enough that there was a wait. We were promptly seated and ordered our drinks. After the drinks were served, we had decided on what to eat and placed our order. Almost as quick as our waitress left, she was back with our salads. The salad was your basic garden salad, and looked nice and fresh. I had mine with avocado ranch dressing. Normally, I love avocado ranch and it is very good but I will only give this one a rating of fair. Our plates were promptly removed after we finished our salads.
17 minutes. It took 17 minutes from when the last order was given to our waitress until we had our steaks. The food came out faster than expected, most places when ordering steak are 10-20 minutes after you finish your salad. The Station was 17 minutes from ordering, which is the way it should be. You finish your salad, they take the plates and then BAM!, out comes your steak. The cut was Filet Mignon, ordered medium rare with a twice baked potato. Now it is very uncommon to have a restaurant (at least the places I've eaten at) cook my steak right-- it usually comes out too done or rare. This was not the case this night, it was a perfect medium rare. The steak was tender, juicy and very good. The potato complemented the steak and was almost equally as tasty (you just can't top the taste of a good steak).
The cost of the steak dinner was $20.00 + drinks, tip, tax. It is a pricey dinner, but a little on the low side for a filet mignon. The size of the steak was bigger than many I've paid more to eat. I've eaten filet mignon at many places, so far The Station has top honors. The food was good and the service was friendly and fast.
The Station is located in downtown Americus on Lamar Street in the block before the Windsor.
