Granny's Kitchen

Today, Granny's Kitchen was the place chosen to eat lunch. Three of us piled in the car in search of nutrition. We arrived approximately at 12:05pm and the place was already packed. We sat down at a table that hadn't been yet cleared, but was promptly cleaned off. In another 5 minutes we had ordered our food. The meats on the menu today were:
  • Roast Beef w/ Gravy
  • Lemon Baked Chicken (white or dark)
  • Salmon croquettes
Some of the vegetable choices:
  • Green Beans
  • Oven Browned Potatoes
  • Creamed Corn
  • Field Peas w/ snaps
  • Tomatoes and Okra (stewed)
I had the Roast Beef, Creamed Corn, Fresh Sliced Tomatoes and Potatoes. The Roast Beef was very juicy and tender. The Potatoes were equally yummy. If you love Creamed Corn, then you must try Granny's. It is the best Creamed Corn I have eaten. Granny's Kitchen usually always has fresh sliced tomatoes, though I don't think it is on the menu, they are a must order if you like tomatoes. The restaurant is also know for its Lace Bread. I didn't have that today as I opted for their tasty biscuits.

The food was brought to us 10 minutes after ordering despite a packed restaurant. It was hot and soon gone, followed by some good ole Iced Tea. The other two lunch companions had the Lemon Baked Chicken, Green Beans and Peas and said their meal was also very good. Not much conversation went on during lunch as the food was quickly scarfed down.

Granny's Kitchen varies their menu every day. They also have delicious desserts as well, though after all the good vegetables, I never have room for dessert. There are other menu items available as well. The restaurant is known for its meats and vegetables which comprises most of the menu. My lunch was $8.77 for 3 veges, meat and tea, which is about the average cost for a sit down lunch in Americus, Georgia.

Granny's Kitchen is located on the corner of U.S. Hwy 280 and U.S. Hwy 19 in Americus Georgia. They are open for breakfast and lunch, Monday - Saturday.

Give them a try, you'll be happy you did.
